Coaching for rookies, rockstars and those quietly losing it.
For when you need an opinionated, unofficial sidekick. Sanity checks, straight answers and someone to say “inside voice” before you say it out loud.
The conversations you can’t have at work.
This is where you come to say the things you can’t say anywhere else.
Because:
You can’t always ask up without raising eyebrows (they might think you’re incompetent)
You can’t ask sideways, aka your peers, without risking politics (could be tomorrow’s gossip)
And you can’t ask down without blurring lines you’ll later regret (Note: you’re not their mate and nothing kills authority faster than a leader trauma dumping mid 1:1).
Which leaves a lot of smart, capable people professionally stuck in their own heads.
That’s where we come in.
We help people navigate the moments when careers get messy: second guessing decisions, overthinking feedback, managing difficult personalities and navigating politics.
Think of it as a safe space for unsafe questions, honest feedback and the thoughts you absolutely cannot say out loud in the office.
What we’ll do
We’ll:
Figure out why things feel off (and whether it’s you or them or both)
Decode your boss’s weird behaviour like it’s a crime drama
Build your influence without selling your soul
Plan that awkward conversation so you don’t rehearse it in the shower
Help you stop catastrophising and start plotting
You’ll walk out with:
A plan
A clearer head (and maybe a mildly bruised ego, in a good way)
A few lines that’ll make your boss think you’re ten times savvier than last week
Meet Me, JB
Two decades in the marketing and digital trenches. Autonomy, Vodafone, BUPA, Microsoft, ResMed. GM at Vodafone at 29.
Which means I’ve been on both sides of the budget cut, the re-org and the 4:57pm priority change. And also means I’ve probably been the villain in someone’s group chat.
Since 2018, I’ve been coaching, consulting and training. And watching smart, capable people trip over exactly the same things nobody ever explains.
There’s plenty of career theory out there. Not much on what to actually do on Tuesday.
That’s the gap I fill.

Things People Ask Before Giving Me Money
-
Whatever works for you. Some folks think better while walking round the block. Camera is entirely optional if you’d rather not be looked at while talking through the difficult stuff.
-
Absolutely. What gets said in coaching stays in coaching.
-
No. “Something’s off and I can’t quite put my finger on it” is a perfectly legitimate place to start and very common with our engagements.
-
Life happens. Give me 24 hours’ notice and we’ll find another time. Less than that, or if you ghost me entirely, the session’s considered used because I’ve held the time.
-
Yes, all coaching sessions and packages must be used within six months of the purchase date, unless we have agreed otherwise in writing.
-
Quite possibly. Plenty of employers are happy to fund coaching through their learning and development budget. I can invoice your company directly with a proper tax invoice. If you need to make the case internally, email me at julie@mentorish.co and I’ll send you a short note you can forward your manager.
-
Sydney, Australia. I also work with clients in the UK, Europe and US with early morning and evening sessions available to make the timezones work.
-
If you change your mind before your first scheduled session, let me know in writing at least 24 hours beforehand and I’ll provide a full refund. Once coaching has started, refunds aren’t available for unused sessions or partially completed packages.

Who need not apply
Let’s save us both some time. This is not for you if you’re:
The kind of person who argues just to hear themselves talk.
Convinced every problem in your life has someone else’s name on it
Addicted to drama, blame or playing corporate victim bingo
Too important to self reflect but somehow not important enough to be self aware
Proudly telling it “like it is” (translation: you’re just RUDE)
Expecting a magic wand instead of a mirror
If that sounds like you, then this is not your vibe.
Even Batman had Alfred.
You, meanwhile, are out here making career decisions unsupervised. Risky.
